Positive Behavior Support Practitioner

Qualifications:

Diana holds a Master of Social Work and is a registered Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Education, which enriches her inclusive, strengths-based approach to practice.

Experience:

With over 15 years as a Senior Social Worker in mental health and disability services, Diana has worked extensively across Western Australia and the Northern Territory in both government and community-based services. Her background includes supporting children, young people, and adults as they navigate the challenges that behaviours of concern and mental health needs can bring to families and care teams.

She has strong capabilities in risk assessment, crisis intervention, multidisciplinary collaboration, multi-agency coordination, and case management across both rural and urban settings

Areas of expertise:

Diana has particular expertise in supporting individuals with psychosocial and developmental disabilities, and a strong passion for working with people with co-occurring intellectual disabilities, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Treatment Modalities:

For the past four years, Diana has focused on integrating Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) with clinical mental health practice. Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed, person-centred principles, always tailored to improving quality of life.

Diana integrates to her clinical practice a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including adapted Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for individuals with intellectual disabilities, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) principles, psychoeducation and social skills training. Diana takes a thoughtful and collaborative approach to Positive Behaviour Support, ensuring interventions are sustainable, meaningful, and aligned with each participant’s goals and values.
