We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Allied Health Assistant to deliver high-quality services to paediatric and adult individuals within their local community.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Assist in individual and group therapy sessions by preparing spaces, setting up equipment, and directly engaging with clients.
• Monitor client responses during therapy, adjusting as needed, and report progress and concerns to supervising professionals.
• Support the execution of care plans, ensuring alignment with the goals set by allied health professionals.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and report findings to facilitate care plan adjustments.
• Maintain and manage therapy equipment and materials, ensuring safety and readiness.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure cohesive care and effective communication.
• Interact with patients and their families to provide information, answer questions, and offer reassurance.
• Maintain accurate clinical records, including therapy session documentation and patient progress tracking

 

Qualifications & Experience

• Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check
• Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for roles involving travel between locations or client homes
• Proven Practical Experience in Healthcare or Disability Support
• Basic Computer Skills which will be Necessary for administrative tasks like record-keeping and scheduling, with a willingness to learn additional relevant skills.

Tasks & Responsibilities

· Build strong relationships with participants, families, carers, and other stakeholders.

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date case management documentation.

Qualifications & Experience

· Qualification as a social worker with registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).

· Bachelor’s degree in social work or any other related field, or Master of Social Work (preferred).

· At least one year of experience working with people with disabilities in a relevant setting.

· Proven experience working with people with disabilities.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to build rapport and trust with participants from diverse backgrounds.

· Demonstrated advocacy skills.

· Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Commitment to providing high-quality, client-centered care.

· Advanced experience in assessment, crisis-intervention, treatment and case management of children, adolescents and adults with mental health problems.

· Demonstrated experience in assessment, individual counselling and group facilitation.

· Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to priorities competing workloads within a complex environment

• Providing a high quality, evidence based Early Childhood Intervention and Paediatric Art Therapy service that is co-designed with the family. This will meet the needs of the children and families in a manner which respects the rights and confidentiality of the child and their family.

• Using the Key Worker model in partnership and collaboration with all those associated with the child/family to provide timely and developmentally appropriate services.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team in a permanent full-time role as a Behaviour Support Practitioner.

In the role, you will undertake a functional behavioural assessments and analysis, develop and write NDIS behaviour support plans that meet the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding requirements and work closely with the participant, their family, careers, guardian and other stakeholders to support the implementation of the behaviour support plan.

About you: 

You will enjoy a balance of collaborative and autonomous work and be able to effectively juggle the administrative and operational functions of the role with the hands-on aspects.

Key criteria as follows:

• • Assist individuals and their families to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning and to develop meaningful goals and practical strategies to support people in their home and community.

• • Develop behaviour support plans utilizing a positive behaviour support framework with a commitment to eliminate and fade out restrictive practices

• • Provide clinical advice and support to individuals, families, careers, and support workers

• • Record and report accurately, including billable hours performed.

Essential Selection Criteria:

• • Relevant tertiary qualifications as an Allied Health Professional.

• • Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA), including provisional psychologists. Demonstrated experience in delivering and implementing positive behaviour support plans to people with complex behavioral needs.

• • Demonstrated knowledge of restrictive practice and a solid understanding of existing frameworks. Understanding and demonstrated experience of current evidenced based assessment and intervention tools.

• • Highly developed ability to train key stakeholders and implement behaviour support plans effectively.

• • Excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.

• • Demonstrated organization and time management skills

Eligibility requirements:

• • Relevant professional registration (e.g. AHPRA, Australian Psychological Society, Speech Pathology Australia, Exercise and Sports Science Australia)
