Belle has a strong passion for working with children with complex communication needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
She is also experienced with supporting children and adolescents, staff and families in using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Belle also has a strong interest in language and literacy and believes that every person should have the right to access literacy. She is committed to working collaboratively with the family and other professionals involved in the child’s life and using evidence-based practice to ensure best therapy outcomes.
Belle is a Certified Practicising Speech Pathologist with a Bachelor of Linguistics and Education from the University of California, Los Angeles and Masters of Speech Pathology from La Trobe University.
Belle has completed training specific to ASD such as Hanen: More than Words. She is also trained in Natural Language Acquisition, which highlights the differences of language development in children with delayed echolalia and ways to support their language development. She is also trained in using a variety of AAC systems including: Proloquo2go, LAMP, TD Snap, NovaChat, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Coughdrop. Belle has also completed the Learn to Play workshop as well as run various literacy programs both in an individual and group setting.
